Happy Monday!

This week is fourth grade's week to complete OAKS math testing.  Please help your student do their best by seeing that they get the rest and nutrition they need.  Due to testing there will be no reading or spelling homework this week, but math homework will come home each night.  Also, there will be parent editing needed one night for Journal 2 as we bump along down Windlass Hill and come to rest at Ash Hollow.  We do appreciate your help with this activity.  Thursday is Ridgeview's Papa's Pizza fundraiser and tee-shirt verification forms for our jog-a-thon are due by Friday.  This month is flying bye!

Fourth graders will be writing about the early days on the Oregon Trail, visiting Fort Kearny, the Platte River and Windlass Hill this week.  On Wednesday, we will be a part of an actual simulation depicting cooking in a Dutch Oven on the Oregon Trail.  Due to the short week (no school Friday) we will not be assigning spelling sentences on Wednesday.  We will have math homework every night and CCC's on Monday.  One night this week will be a parent edit of Journal 2.  Our weekly spelling test will be on Thursday.  Also, please look for the parent letter regarding our craft for Mother's Day.  Other school news includes our annual Volunteer Tea from 3:30-4:30 p.m. tomorrow in the library.

     I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful sunshine this long weekend!  We are finishing up with introducing decimals and beginning review for the Oaks math testing later in the month.  As a result, we are adjusting the homework schedule this week.  Your student will be assigned math homework each night.  This homework is review(except Monday), and students should be fairly independent and successful with these homework activities.  Social studies homework will include a parent editing for Paragraph 5 (Journal 1) on Monday night.  Some students who haven't finished their writing during class may have to complete journal entries at home during the week.
   This week is Bring a Loved One to Lunch, with Thursday being Fourth Grade Bring a Loved to Lunch.  Pink forms have been turned in to the office.  In addition, this week is Oaks testing for Resource students.  Thanks for your continued support!

Fourth grade Ridgeview students have begun their Oregon Trail journey!  This simulation is usually one of fourth graders' favorite memories of fourth grade.  Parents will be asked to edit their child's writing once a week.  Spring pictures were sent home this week.  Tomorrow's PTO meeting begins at 6:30 in the cafeteria.  Parents should have already received their student's progress report.  There is no school for students on Friday, so spelling tests will be given on Thursday.  Otherwise, this week's homework routine remains the same except for no math homework on Thursday night.  We hope everyone had a good spring break.  It is hard to believe we are beginning our final term of the school year!  We do appreciate your support.
